LMU-CVM clinical rotations in Cincinnati, Ohio

Deer Park Veterinary Hospital hosts fourth-year LMU veterinary students in a busy, full-service small animal practice. You’ll be paired one-on-one with one of our veterinarians and work real cases in surgery, diagnostics and the exam room.

Hands-on small animal practice, every day

Our hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care for dogs and cats in Deer Park and the surrounding Cincinnati suburbs. During your clinical rotation you’ll be part of the treatment team, not watching from the doorway.

Each student is teamed up with one of our veterinarians and works a similar schedule, typically 32-36 hours a week. Your week is planned ahead, with set times assigned to assisting in surgery, diagnostics and the exam room, so you get steady experience in each.

General practice medicine

Lead appointments, build problem lists and talk through treatment plans with clients and your supervising veterinarian.

Soft tissue surgery

Scrub in on routine and advanced procedures, from patient prep through anesthetic recovery.

Dentistry and dental radiology

Practice charting, cleanings and extractions, and read dental radiographs with our team.

Why spend your rotation in Cincinnati

Cincinnati is an affordable, growing city full of young professionals, which makes it an easy place to land for a few weeks. We’re centrally located in the Kenwood area, about 15 minutes from downtown, Over-the-Rhine and the riverfront.

Off the clock, students can explore the parks, the food scene in Over-the-Rhine and Findlay Market, and the Cincinnati Zoo. If you’re thinking about practicing in Ohio or the Tri-State area after graduation, a rotation here is a good way to try the region out.
