Registered Veterinary Technician
Position Statement
The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is an integral member of the veterinary healthcare team. Veterinary technicians must have a broad knowledge of animal science, medicine, and husbandry, including a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses. They must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiology techniques, administer drugs, monitor animals under anesthesia, assist in surgery, and perform dental procedures. Technicians must also deliver compassionate nursing care. The technician is educated and trained to support the veterinarian by assisting with surgery, laboratory procedures, radiography, anesthesiology, prescribed treatment, nursing, and client education. While an RVT can assist in performing a wide variety of tasks, they cannot diagnose, prescribe, or perform surgery.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:30 am – 6 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 7:15 am – 7 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

Education
Graduated from an AVMA approved veterinary technology program.
Successfully passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).
Maintain membership with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association.
Minimum two years of veterinary experience, preferred.
Veterinary Assistant
Position Statement
The responsibilities of Veterinary Assistants vary considerably from one practice to another. In some situations, they may be assigned to assist only in the exam room or to assist only the Veterinary Technicians. More typically, though, they will divide their time between assisting the CSR’s, helping doctors with physical examinations, dispensing medications, and helping technicians position patients for and process radiographs, prepare patients for surgery, provide nursing, and comfort care, and perform treatments or basic laboratory diagnostic tests. The main duties and responsibilities of our assistants involve ensuring the clinic’s overall cleanliness, equipment operations and supplies are maintained. Assistants must build positive, professional relationships with clients and staff members. Assistants should have completed or be in the process of completing their high school diplomas and must pursue significant on-the-job training.

Client Service Representative
Position Statement
The Client Service Representative (CSR) is the most important member of the Deer Park Veterinary Hospital (DPVH) team. CSRs are the first people clients see when they arrive at the hospital and should always greet every person and pet, they encounter with a SMILE. An amazing CSR will create lasting relationships that keep clients visiting the hospital for years to come. The CSRs are the masters of the appointment schedule, the lifeline of the hospital.
A CSR works under the direct supervision of the manager, owner, and veterinarians. A CSR must have exceptional client service and communication skills, computer literacy, be able to handle payment and financial issues, can multi-task, and have a friendly attitude and confidence to deal with stressful situations. The CSR is responsible for the clinic’s reception area cleanliness and assuring administrative supplies are maintained.
Hours of Service
Morning Shift: 7:15 am – 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm
Mid-day Shift: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Afternoon Shift: 1:00 pm – 6:30 pm or 7:30 pm depending on the day
Sat: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

Position Overview

Position Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school degree/G.E.D or in the process of attaining.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least two years of grooming experience is recommended.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when they are stressed or in pain
- Can work unaffected in an environment where dogs are barking
- Must be available to work mornings and days around holidays
- Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other team members in lifting animals over 40lbs). Walks and stands for extended periods of time; occasionally works in a bent position
- Working Conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, and zoonotic diseases
